KATIE/JACKIE DEVISING PIECE AND SCRIPTED FINALE EVALUATION!

We finally had our final show of our improvised, device piece in the theatre, followed by Fallout at the end of  devising piece.

I really enjoyed my devising piece due to the fact that, I had a really hard time while creating this piece because of my foot injury, nut that didn't stop us. for creating an amazing piece about stop and search. moreover due to the previous performance we had and ending up having a break down, we took the audience feet back and work on everything they told us and perfect our scene.

Stop and search
Therefor I feel our strongest scene was when we did the searching scene in the dark. and that's because we work together as an ensemble with the L.E.D lights and by using physical theatre at the same time, to show the audience  the communication and tension between the police and a young person, we showed that tension by using gesture and movements and ending it with a deep stair in the eye, and standing right in front of them. Moreover, I also feel our final scene was very strong because we also worked as an ensemble, while walking in all together. That had the most tension to me because I was playing police and we had to pursue Ezekiel and Yazmin, so we used proxemics on state to show the tension on the police as hunters of young people. We showed it by walking in a large group in unison and canon the rhythm of our stamping as an ensemble added tension, and representation of  how the police intimidate young people.

Which is quite funny because we swished things up by showing, the dynamics at the end of scene by adapting the Mac-arena choreography  into tense gesture and movements which we performer with pressure and anger at the end. This keep the audience guessing what's going to happen next because of all the changing of emotion, better yet feeding of the their curiosity. Even the sound effect we used was so tense until we chance it to the Mac-arena and ended the scene while singing in a chorus

In Fallout, my strongest piece was towards the end, the" investigation scene", with Dorant, Tyrell and Natalia. because I feel like I was more comfortable during that scene, like we had a lot of energy and we was feeding off each other, As we worked as an ensemble, it helped us to show the tension and anger we had towards each other, Not only the way we worked as an ensemble but our facial expression as well, I mean Tyrell and Natalie didn't have much lines but their facial expression showed that they was connect to the scene and not just listing to us saying the line, so feel that we all was physically connected as a ensemble. Moreover I use a lot of hand gestures and neck movements  to show my character's emoting (sassy/don't care attitude ),  Me and Tyrell also use hands gestures to show or anger by ( hitting the table), and changing our vocal range by (shouting) at each other while projecting our voice. Lastly I was really happy because while rehearsing or piece Me and Dorant always use to have a hard time because we never use to listen to each other properly, but towards the end we got to show the emotion, aggressiveness we wanted and was expecting from each other. and this is because my character and to really aggressive and sassy toward his, Therefor while rehearsing to get me in character, because he knew I love (Rihanna) he would call her names to change my mood. and this really help us with our scene and or characters. so yeah I'm really proud of the final performance we did.

Stop and Search: our less successful scene was our improvisation scene, we did with Me, Bianca, Natalia, Yazmin, Ezekiel and Morgan, because this scene was always the hardest one due to the fact it had a lot of low energy while rehearsing it, however when we performed it for the first time we go feet back about what we needed to work on and we worked really hard into perfecting that scene by adding new pieces to make it stronger and more developed. but what made this scene unsuccessful, is that we used direct address to the audience, and we got some of our lines wrong that we had to say together in unison and I tried not to make it obvious. it was also less successful because I feel like we some of us could've have more energy while performing I feel like we could of been a bit more louder and work much better as an ensemble although we rehearse so much time before our final performance we still didn't get to perfect the scene as much as I wanted it to.

Fallout: although my scene with Tyrell and Natalia wasn't unsuccessful, I still feel like I needed to work a bit more harder on mesmerising my line's because  did forget about to lines,  was really upset at the end of the show but  was happy as well because, we played it off and keep the scene going, but most of all we stayed in character, and the audience didn't realise what happened. as Miss Jackie always said "no matter what happened keep going and stay in character" and  remembered  know the play the audience don't.

Stop And Search/Fallout: overall  feel like the difference between the devised piece and the scripted piece is that, when you do devising pieces you get to be more creative and think outside the box, you also get to experiment with different ideas from different people, try them see if it work if not take them out and try something else you even get to add different character and create your own particular character, moreover you get to come up with different sound effects and using multimedia. . While scripted you have a specific way to ac you have all the lines writing down for you and you can't change it, you have you really research the character and  put yourself in their shoes to connect them physically and emotionally. you can't even express your creativity that much.

Stop And Search: I find coming up with ideas was the most challenging thing I know it might sound weird, because you get to explore your creativity more. But I get really shy and when it comes to saying my idea it will take me really long to saying, because I get insecure about what people will say about what I come up with. but I really tried my best and say what I think would and will not work.

fallout: I find learning my lines really challenging, which is really weird because I'm usually really good at doing that but I really tried my best and learning them. I think it because I had a foot injury so that took most of my attention, but I never you it as an excuse to not learn my lines.

I really enjoyed both pieces in many different ways. It was really good working with two wonderful and different teacher and these two pieces. because I learned a lot of thing from both pieces, like in fallout I was basically  acting as a typical teenager, with stop and search I really had to change my character and my emotion because I had to act as a police woman, and the character is much more mature than myself.

Urine Town research.

urinetown is a satirical comedy musical the premierd in 2001,with music by mark hollmann
and a book by Greg kotis. the show also parodies musicals such as the threepenny opera, the cradle will rock and les miserables, and the broadway musical itself as a form. the character os BOBBY Stong and Hope Cladwell were included on New York Theather Monthly's list of "The 100 Greatest Roles in Musical Theater".

Greg Kotis had the idea for Urinetown while traveling in Europe. He was a traveling student on a budget, he encountered a pay-per-use toilet, and began writing shortly thereafter, joining with Mark Hollmann for the journey to Broadway. there was apsolutly no production companie interested in opthioning the musiclal, but finally the Neo- Futurists, an experimental theatre group from chicago. agreed to produce Urinetown for their 1999-2000 season. moreover kotis and his wife was the original cast member. spencer Kayden belonged to the group.Fringe Festival accepted the show into thier festival.

Playwright David Auburn, a friend of Kotis and Hollmann, came to see the show and immediately called production company The Araca Group. The company optioned the musical and it opened Off Broadway at the American Theatre for Actors, transferring to Broadway in September 2001. Originally planned to open on September 13, the show contained several references which, after the September 11 attacks, would prove offensive. Ultimately, only one line was removed from the script, and the show opened September 20, 2001.    {wikipedia}

we are dancing to one of the song in the play, the one called "Snuff That Girl.

here is a video of urinetown in theater:

Here's a couple video's of us rehearsing:

katie lesson

I've been off for a week, due to the fact that i fracture my small toe. however we have manage as a group to put and amazing piece together, although i felt horrible wet my self because I've missed,  most of the rehearsals. but that haven stop me or my class mates to do their best whilst rehearsing without me, they manage to make to make the scenes lest complicated and hard so it will be easy for me to catch up and place in easily.

play order. Stop And Search.

opening: project (video: of police brutality, arrest that's not legal images of people against stop and search.   playing at the back  ).

Example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QjGfDH4adY

Followed with an introduction by Me,Temwani,Edgar,Yasmine,Raphie and Ezekiel. we will be holding signs and ending up in one line.

meaning of introduction:  introduction/ˌɪntrəˈdʌkʃ(ə)n/  the action of introducing something. "issues arising from the introduction of new technology"

moreover we also look straight to the audience and say a couple of lines such as.

'We interviewed people'-[everyone
'We talked to others'-[yasmine]
'Friends family strangers'-[edgar]
'People who has been stop and search before.'-[everyone]
'And they all said the same thing'-[temwani]
'The same words "STEREOTYPED,JUDGED,WRONG RACE, WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME."-[everyone]

we end the scene by ripping the signs.

we then have verbatim pieces: played by Tyrel,Natalia,Dorant and Bianca.

meaning of verbatim: verbatim/vəːˈbeɪtɪm/ in exactly the same words as were used originally."subjects were instructed to recall the passage verbatim"

it have Dorant playing an old African lady,Natalia playing an black Jamaican guy, Tyrel playing an samrt white guy and Bianca playing an sassy young girl.

video's for that.

before we came up with those verbatim scenes miss Katie showed us a couple of verbatim videos because we didn't know what it was

example videos miss Katie showed us:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9scm3NCIH_E

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezTKA0Pbfs0

verbatim is mostly exaggeration of the lips movements.

it then Leeds into we thought about the stories..... we also have lines about stop and search:

lines: 'we thought about the stories'-[edgar]
' behind the stop and search polices'-[everyone]
         ' the families'-[bianca]
         ' the mother's'[tyrel]
         ' the worries'-[everyone]

then it follows with the mother and son scene played but Temwani and Tyrel.
we then look at Tyrel whilst he pushes Ezeikel and Yasmine like they was his room door, he then makes his way to the kitchen....ect. it the goes on to this is trey....

video for that scene:

we then have a scene with L.E.D lights.

meaning of L.E.D lights:

light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits visible light when an electric current passes through it. The light is not particularly bright, but in most LEDs it is monochromatic, occurring at a single wavelength.

followed by two device peaces

the first peace is Me,Natalia and Morgan playing the role of police officers who walk up and randomly suspect that Ezekiel and Bianca are carrying illegal drugs, and search them. followed with a second scene with Me and Natalia stopping Tyrell but by his behaviour he convince us that he has nothing on him but he do.

katie: research about stop and search

meaning of stop and search : BrE. (in Britain) a police power, part of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, to stop a person who is suspected of doing something illegal, such as carrying illegal drugs, to question them and to search them. Check pronunciation: stop and search.
MoreOver it's also good to know your rights while being stop and search. but it also good to know the right's the police have towards you.

The police may have the power and right's, to stop and search you at anytime-they can, depending on the situation. however the police community support officer know as (PCSO) must be in uniform when they stop and questioned you. the police officer does not always have to be in uniform but they are not in uniform they must show you their warrant card.

Stop and question: police powers

the police has the right to stop you and ask you

-what are you doing
-why are you in a sorting area or where are you going.

However, you dont always have to tell them or answer them.

Stop and search: police powers.

the police officer has the power to stop and search you if the have a "reasonable ground" to suspect you are carrying:

- illegal drugs
- a weapon
- stolen property
- something which could be uses to commit a crime..., etc

normally you could only be stop and search without reasonable grounds if it has been approved by a senior police officer. this can happen if it is suspected that:

- serious violence could take place
- you are carrying a weapon or use one
- you are in a specific location or area

therefore, before you are searched the police officer must tell you
- there name and police station
- what they expect to find drugs...etc
- the reason they want to search you, it looks like you're hiding something
- why they are legally allowed to search and if this isn't possible at the time, how you can get a copy.

lastly a police could ask you to take your coat, jacket or glove.

the police could ask you to take off other clothes and anything you are wearing for religious reason-eg a veil or turban. if they do they must take you somewhere out of public view.
it the officer wanted to remove more than a jacket and gloves they must be the same sex as you.

The smart way to report police misconduct

Because the Independent Police Complaints Commission recommends that you raise your complaint first with the force concerned, you can use the app to send a report and evidence directly to the police from your smartphone and then, if necessary to the IPCC. If you want to get advice first from an advice centre or lawyer, the app lets you secure your report and evidence in your private account.
With over 16,000 registered users already and in successful use every day, it is what you have been waiting for.
The app gives you confidence and makes it easy for you to
  • safely store photo and video evidence of the crime,
  • record a reliable statement,
  • validate the evidence you have captured
  • file a crime report with the police from your smartphone.
The app now has extra features for repeat and vulnerable victims and for hate crime. These enhancements have been brought to you by The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime in London and the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner. Launching the new build, Boris Johnson welcomed Self Evident as it "will help increase reporting even further, boosting confidence, reducing repeat offences and helping victims get the support they need".

jackie fall out character research

Ronnie is Shanice friend who pretty much don't have anyone  she depends a lot on Shanice, shes more the bad behaviour one who always get's in trouble.

Ronnie : my character is getting interview and she's is very rude. Therefor i decided to watch a bit  of Youtube videos about people being interviewed by the police.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uqVzwqXsW0
this video helps me with my character because of the way the girl body language is, you could see the she's really annoyed. The way she was sitting on the ground the way she's talking to the police she have a lot of energy and that what my character need a lot of energy.
all I got to be a bit more fierce.
WHAT WE NEED FOR OUR SCENE.
My character need un matching  clothes, because she don't know how to dress, and she rely a lot on shanice.
we also need a table 4 chairs.
a folder with paper for Dorant.

katie lesson

what have we done in practical lessons                   Naturalistic.  / Stop And Search.

Devising; theatre (also called collaborative creation, is a form of theatre where the script originates not from a writer or writers, but from collaborative, usually improvisation, work by a group of people (usually, but not necessarily, the performers).

FOR EXAMPLE.
*We have included a short improvised scene between a mother and son, witch is played by Temwanie and Tyrel. Experimented with tension how?? pause, silent non verbal communication minimal dialogue.
*Ensemble work speaking as a chorus-in unison.
*we wanted to create something that was visually dramatic and very physical. We experimented with the creation of lines with an individual standing behind each person feeling their arms though the arm of another.

-what did this show. Darkness,LED lights add to the effect.

most of our scene look similar to this video witch was very helpful. but here are other videos about stop and search.

jackie reading the scrip of fallout

so far miss Jackie give us our scrip for fallout and we spent two lesson reading it and getting to know the characters individually, the play Fallout is very historical because it have a lot to do with race and being kill and dramatic. some of the character or very rude and emotional.

moreover we have also done hot seating for the characters, we have been giving individually. however we had to come dressed up as our character on Tuesday. It was really challenging because it had a lot of people throwing questions at you.

I find that it was a good way to see who ready the scrip more then ones because they were asking question the you would of known if you had read the scrip more then ones.

target: to be more prepared and always stay in character. start strong and finish stronger.
                                                                                                                                              17/11/16
miss Jackie filmed us today, asking us about our characters in general, what we learned, and how we develop our character. we also come up a set list of what we need for the play. we them continue working on or scene and coming a with a better way to make the scene more creative and hones.

                                                                                                                                                22/11/16

we worked on or scene but this time not just me and Dorant, but Natalia and Tyrell. it was challenging because we never rehears with them before, but it was fun because we got the play around with the scene.
the only thing is I keep forgetting my lines. I find it hard to get in character so me and Dorant came up with a new way to help me get in character my calling......... name and that really helped me.

joa dance

we have finish the chair duet. now we have officially started or first assignment, and its chair duet as well, but Temwanie and myself  have two new members, however it's a group of four with Morgan and Edga added to it.

we was told that this time we could choose our own location and come up with a hole new piece, moreover we got the opportunity too explore the college and come up with a location.

my group and i came up with the idea to do it on the field but it was as challenging as we wanted or piece to be, therefor we change it to the science class room

our target is to view the science room, and hopefully it will be the perfect location.

here's a a picture of the mind map we came up with so far:

joa dance

we've had or final piece recorded, from the move we added for the frantic Assembly chair duet. it was a bit challenging because me and my partner Temwanie had to do last min changes and add new moves to our routine, and using the couch

we've also change our location to a messy room. so we then had to apply a picture in the back ground of a messy room, we didn't have a bed so we used a couch.

i was really please with our performance because we changed things last min and actually remembered it when it was time for recording.

this is a video of our final routine and what we had before:

jackie or first scrip work

Meaning of scrip: script is a written version of a play or movie. If you're auditioning for a movie, you'll get the script to practice a scene or two. Script comes from the Latin scrībĕre, meaning "to write," and all its meanings have to do with something written. Your handwriting is your script

Fallout: is a script it was writing by Roy Williams, it a winner at the Evening Standard’s most promising. Playwright award, in 2001.
Roy Will decided to write fallout bass on the story that happened to the young boy called (Damilola Taylor).

Damilola Taylor was born on the 7th of December 1989 and was found dead on November 27th 2000, at the age of 10. By several young boys that were cleared of murder charges after a lengthy trial, and later two brothers were convicted of manslaughter.
Although the play isn’t exactly like what happened to the late (Damilola Taylor). However Roy William was inspired by his story and decided to write fallout bass on what happened to him.
Moreover fallout, is about a young boy who was found dead. A police who is called, (Joe Stephen) had to move back to his old neighbourhood for the investigation, on what happen to the young boy who got murdered. (Shanice) who’s one of the mean characters thought she was the last one to him, studiously avoid his enquires into her boyfriend (Emile’s gang of friend). Meanwhile her best friend (Ronnie) which is the character I play, saw something she swears she will never tell. But when a £30k reward is offered and Ibiza beckons, the girls and boys face the biggest test of street loyalty in their young lives. Fallout provides a terrifying insight into a council estate with a gang murder of a kind all too familiar in our inner cities. Roy Williams writing snap and made a rapid success, with his characters emotion and contradiction.

Day one: we learned our first  routine and watch a video from frantic assembly, and learned we was going to be doing a duet chair challenge, we was put in a group of two and practice the move from the video she show us. me and Temwanie repeated it until we got it right. we had 15 minute to come up with extra move we added at the end.

It seemed really challenging at first whilst watching it but and the end it turned out much easier then it seems. i have a finishing video of our routine! am going to link it down below.

Our future target improve in our moves.
